Pep Guardiola has confirmed injuries to John Stones and Gabriel Jesus, which led to them being left out of the travelling squad to face Schalke in the Champions League.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said Stones is absent with a groin problem, while striker Jesus has a hamstring strain.
Luckily, in the words of Pep, neither of their muscular injuries are serious and they should not be sidelined for too long.
“John Stones has a groin problem. Gabriel Jesus has a hamstring problem,” said Pep.
“I don’t think it is a big, big problem but enough for them not to come.”
In Jesus’ absence, Sergio Aguero is in line to start up-front against Schalke as City look to take a first leg lead home from Gelsenkirchen.
Stones’ absence is compensated by the return of club captain Vincent Kompany, who is available to play for the first time since the 2-1 win over Liverpool in early January.
