Manchester City have agreed a €300,000-plus deal with Espanyol to sign left-sided Spain youth international Óscar Tarensi, Onda Cero reports.
City had been expected to sign the 16-year-old in January, but Espanyol have negotiated better economic conditions for one of their academy ‘jewels’, who will become the latest Spanish starlet to enter the City Football Academy.
Tarensi, who represents Spain at youth level, can play as a full-back, midfielder or winger, and is said to be a player of ‘great quality’.
Óscar is one of Espanyol’s top-rated youth prospects and has been playing an age group up in the club’s Juvenil B team. Following his move to City, he will likely be placed in the under-18 set-up.
All that remains is for Tarensi to sign his Manchester City contract, which is expected to be done in the coming days.
