Manchester City head to Germany this week for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash with Schalke.
The referee for the match has been announced and it is an official who has already overseen a City match in this season’s Champions League.
Carlos del Cerro Grande of Spain was in charge last October as City swept aside Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukraine. It was the 42-year-old’s first ever City game, and he is a relatively new face in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
He’ll again have the whistle on Wednesday night when Gelsenkirchen with all of his assistants, plus the Video Assistant Referee, Alejandro José Hernández Hernández, also coming from Spain.
