Watch: Phil Foden scores two fantastic goals for Manchester City against Newport

He’s one of our own! Local lad Phil Foden continued his goal scoring in the domestic cup competitions by netting Manchester City’s second and third goals against Newport County in the FA Cup fifth round today.

And what a first goal it was by the teenager, who recently became a father for the first time. Foden collected the ball at the halfway line and went on a run before shooting beyond the Newport ‘keeper.

While this one may not be as special as his first ever City goal against Oxford, it was arguably his best goal since graduating to the first team.

Moments after Newport pulled one back, Foden went on another run before blasting the ball beyond the goalkeeper to complete another fantastic goal.

These were Phil’s fourth and fifth goals of the season, all of them coming in the cups – two in the Carabao Cup and three in the FA Cup.

Riyad Mahrez wrapped up a 4-1 win for the Blues, sending them into Monday night’s FA Cup quarter-final draw.
