Manchester City are all set to take on Newport County for a place in the FA Cup quarter final round, but in addition to their League Two opposition, another challenge awaits the Blues.
Pep Guardiola’s men are used to playing on the near perfect surfaces of the Premier League and Champions League, but today must try and maneuver on a pitch that hosts scrappy football games and rugby matches.
Indeed, the Rodney Parade pitch is not looking great ahead of kick-off with much grass missing – and with Pep fielding a strong side including Fernandinho, he will be hoping there are no injuries on this playing surface.
BT Sport broadcaster Jake Humphrey recorded a close-up video of the pitch that looks like it could interfere with City’s slick passing game – we’ll find out soon enough! Be sure to follow City Watch on Twitter for live updates from the game!
