Manchester City are through to the FA Cup quarter-final round after a 4-1 win over League Two side Newport County at Rodney Parade on Saturday.
It was a challenging game for City who went into the break scoreless against their lower league opposition, but four second half goals, two of them from local lad Phil Foden, ensured City’s quadruple dream remains alive.
City will be ball number 4 in the FA Cup quarter-final draw, which will take place on Monday night at the conclusion of the fifth round’s big game, Chelsea vs. Manchester United.
There are a host of possible opponents for Pep Guardiola’s men, particularly with the fifth round still ongoing. The winner of Chelsea vs. Manchester United would be the toughest possible draw for City, while Watford and Brighton are definitely through and could provide challenges.
Millwall of the Championship are also into the quarters and could be joined by several other lower league sides, with Bristol City facing Wolves, Doncaster Rovers taking on Crystal Palace and Swansea hosting Brentford into the other remaining fourth round games.
City’s potential FA Cup quarter-final opponents after today’s win:
• Bristol City or Wolves
• Doncaster or Crystal Palace
• Chelsea or Manchester United
• Swansea or Brentford
