Andre Marriner will take charge of his fifth Manchester City game this season on Saturday when the Premier League champions travel to Rodney Parade for their FA Cup fifth round tie with Newport County.
City will be hoping to overcome their League Two opposition on what could be a difficult pitch and advance to the quarter finals of a competition they haven’t won since Yaya Touré’s famous strike in 2011 ended decades of hurt.
And it’ll be 48-year-old Marriner in charge, a referee City have a mostly good record in charge of this season.
The experienced match official had the whistle for both of City’s wins over Huddersfield this season as well as the 4-0 drubbing of West Ham in London.
The Blues aren’t flawless under Marriner though, as he was in charge when they were stunned by Crystal Palace at the Etihad in December, losing 3-2.
