Bernardo Silva has reiterated that he is happy at Manchester City and would like to extend his contract when the time comes for talks.
The 24-year-old has been one of the best performers in a star-studded squad and Pep Guardiola has called him the only ‘undroppable’.
“To drop Bernardo Silva right now is almost impossible. It’s him and 10 more players right now,” said Guardiola ahead of City’s recent win over Everton.
In an interview with Portuguese newspaper Record, Bernardo has again expressed his contentment with life at the Etihad Stadium and said he knows nothing of the legitimacy of reported Real Madrid interest.
“I’d like to extend [City contract], I’m fine here, but I don’t have any information about it,” said Bernardo.
“I don’t know if it’s true or not [stories of contract talks]. It’s my agent who deals with this and for the moment he hasn’t called me.
“Real Madrid interest? I’m not aware of anything, I do not know if it’s true or not, but I am aware of the rumours.
“I am focused on Manchester City, I am happy here, I have three years left on my contract and could extend it.”
There were fears for many a year about how City would replace David Silva, but in his namesake Bernardo they appear to have found an ideal successor to star in the midfield for many years to come.
