Ilkay Gundogan is a target for his former club Borussia Dortmund with the German international yet to extend his Manchester City contract, Sun Sport reports.
Gundogan, 28, is out of contract in June 2020 and is said to be undecided about whether to prolong his stay at the Etihad Stadium or return home for the remainder of his career.
The cultured midfielder has been in fine form of late and Pep Guardiola is keen for him to stick around, with initial talks having already taken place about a deal.
However, it is claimed by Sun Sport that negotiations have been slow and while he is happy in Manchester, Dortmund have a history of re-signing former players and have their eyes on a reunion with Gundogan.
Should Gundogan not sign a new deal by the summer, it will give City a decision to make on whether to sell the midfielder, with just one year remaining on his contract.
Ilkay has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season for City with his four goals all coming in the Premier League.
