Manchester City fans who haven’t watched the Elite Development Squad in action could get a first look at winger Rabbi Matondo soon… playing against City!
Matondo has been added to Schalke’s Champions League squad, making him eligible for the Champions League Round of 16 tie with City, to be played over two legs with the first just two weeks away.
The young Wales winger quit the Etihad late in the January transfer window, joining Bundesliga side Schalke for an initial £9.6 million.
And while 18-year-old Matondo had trained with Pep Guardiola’s first team squad, he never made his senior debut before following in Jadon Sancho’s footsteps by moving to Germany. The Blues do have a buy-back clause on Matondo, meaning fans may be keen to keep up with his progress.
He was one of several changes to Schalke’s squad, with Jeffrey Bruma and Bastian Oczipka also added, while Abdul Rahman Baba, Naldo, Franco Di Santo, Jannis Kübler were removed.
City themselves made a number of changes with Claudio Bravo and Philippe Sandler added, Gabriel Jesus moving to List B (under-21s, meaning he CAN still play), and Brahim Díaz, Luke Bolton and Eliaquim Mangala removed.
