Manchester City flop poised to see out contract at the Etihad after no January bids – report

Manchester City have received no serious offers to take French flop Eliaquim Mangala off their hands this month, The Times reports.

The big money signing has been a huge disappointment at the Etihad and the club have been unable to offload him on a permanent deal, with Mangala going out on loan several times.

City had hoped to loan Mangala out again this month, but it is reported that no serious offers have arrived and with hours of the transfer window remaining, a move seems unlikely.

Turkish pair Galatasaray and Fenerbahce made tentative enquiries, while Italian giants Inter were linked, but these rumours came to nothing and the 27-year-old is still at City.

One outside possibility is a Chinese club coming in for the former French international, with their transfer window open until February 28th.

Failing that, the likelihood is now that Mangala will see out his contract, which expires in June, before ending his half-decade stay by leaving on a free transfer.
