Manchester City have a number of challenging games coming up and one of them is this Sunday when the Premier League champions host Unai Emery’s Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
City started the season with a big win away at Arsenal, beating them 2-0 at the Emirates, but the Gunners beat Chelsea 2-0 in the previous matchweek and will be hoping to take a big scalp in Manchester.
The referee for the game will be 47-year-old Martin Atkinson, a veteran of big Premier League matches. It will be Atkinson’s third league assignment for City this season, the previous two being away draws at Wolves and Liverpool.
Atkinson was also in charge when City beat Fulham in the Carabao Cup fourth round back at the start of November.
Like City, Arsenal are winless in the league under Atkinson this season, as he oversaw their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in August and 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park towards the end of October.
