Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone believes Thomas Partey is good enough to play for Manchester City and Manchester United, after the midfielder was recently linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The 25-year-old, a Ghana international, has become a regular under Simeone for Atletico and put in an excellent performance in their 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday, registering his third La Liga assist of the season.
It was reported earlier this month that City have inquired about Partey as they continue their search for a midfielder.
And Simeone seemed almost to encourage those links by name-dropping not just City, but neighbours Manchester United when bigging up his player.
“I liked Thomas today. He and Rodrigo were great,” Simeone said after Atleti’s win over Getafe.
“I think he’s improving, Thomas is an amazing player. He could have played for Manchester City [or] Manchester United.
“We’re talking about a great player here. I rate him very highly.”
City recently missed out on Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona as they look for an alternative and eventual successor to Fernandinho, and Partey may well be one of those names under consideration by Pep Guardiola.
