The 19-year-old right-sided forward, who has also played as a right-back, is highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium and was on the bench for last night’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg win over Burton Albion.
Pep Guardiola took Bolton to the United States in pre-season and he impressed against some big name opposition, including Liverpool.
The Stockport lad will spend the remainder of the 2018-19 season at Adams Park, continuing his development under the tutelage of Gareth Ainsworth.
Ainsworth said: “It’s a massive coup for us to be able to bring a player of Luke’s calibre to the club, and I’m sure the fans will be extremely excited to know that we have one of Man City’s best young talents coming here to develop his game with us.
“He’s lightning quick, very direct and the type of player that will entertain and get the supporters on their feet. I know there were a few other clubs higher up the ladder looking at him and trying to sign him, but City have entrusted him with us and we’re very appreciative to them for doing so, and also to the chairman Trevor Stroud for the excellent role he’s played in making this happen.
“We have a proud track record in recent years of bringing in talented young players that not many people might have heard of, but giving them the platform to learn, improve and gain experience which will stand them in good stead for the future. We’re looking forward to working with Luke and seeing what he will bring to the team as we continue our pursuit of our target of making sure we remain in the division.”
