Manchester City will play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final next month, aiming to become the first team since Manchester United (2009, 2010) to win England’s historic League Cup two seasons in a row.
The final was confirmed tonight after Chelsea beat Tottenham on penalties in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi final after City confirmed their passage to Wembley last night with a 1-0 (agg. 10-0) win over Burton Albion.
The Carabao Cup final will take place at Wembley Stadium on 24 February with kick-off at 4.30pm.
Manchester City have won the EFL/League Cup (named the Carabao Cup for sponsorship reasons) five times in their history in the 1969–70, 1975–76, 2013–14, 2015–16 and 2017–18 seasons.
City met Chelsea at Wembley last August in the pre-season Community Shield, winning that day 2-0. Let’s hope for the same result in February!
