Manchester City will have a very youthful squad for tonight’s game against Burton Albion in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi final – but some experienced faces have also made the trip.
The Blues are 9-0 up from the first leg and with the two-legged tie already won, Pep Guardiola is expected to play some talented youngsters who were not involved in last night’s Checkatrade Trophy defeat to Sunderland.
Familiar names spotted in photographs posted by the Manchester Evening News were Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, Fabian Delph, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus. The returning Benjamin Mendy, who could get his first minutes in two months was also on the train.
Among the youngsters confirmed to have travelled are Philippe Sandler, Felix Nmecha, Taylor Richards, Luke Bolton and Ian Carlo Poveda.
Eric Garcia was not spotted in photographs but after Pep Guardiola’s comments praising him yesterday, there is a good chance he is in the travelling party. Ederson also wasn’t spotted but should be there given the other option, Daniel Grimshaw, played last night for the under-21s.
Pep on Eric Garcia:
"He is so smart, so intelligent. He understands everything so quick. His physicality is not so strong, but he resolves situations by thinking. I like to work with intelligent people and he is one of them." pic.twitter.com/aGgtzOr0SQ
