The Frenkie de Jong transfer saga could come to an end in the next 24 hours and although Manchester City have been presented as the outsiders for a while now, they are still in with a chance, it is claimed.
Continuing his updates on the Ajax star’s future, journalist Oriol Domènech appeared on Club de la Mitjanit last night to share his latest information on De Jong.
The feeling recently has been that the 21-year-old is joining Paris Saint-Germain, but Barcelona are refusing to give up and intensified their efforts with a new offensive that has reportedly made the midfielder take more time to consider his future.
And while there are no such reports about the Premier League champions, Domènech said that Manchester City are also still in touch with his representatives, and along with Barcelona and PSG, are now waiting for De Jong’s final answer.
Though a move to City appears to be unlikely based on media reports, the club are known to do their transfer work much less publicly than Barcelona and PSG, and we will know shortly if Txiki Begiristain has pulled off a coup and secured Frenkie de Jong’s signature for next summer.
