Manchester City want to sign another of Barcelona’s exciting prospects in the summer with a move for their under-16 captain Jorge Alastuey in the pipeline, Alan Nixon of The Sun reports.
Alastuey, 15, is one of numerous Barça starlets who are out of contract in the summer, and though the Catalan club hope to keep hold of him, City want to sign the midfield dynamo it is claimed.
Ilaix Moriba, a tall midfield powerhouse, had been City’s main target from La Masia, but it is now looking like he will stay at Barcelona, with his final decision imminent after City made an offer to him.
And City’s eyes have now turned to Alastuey, the leader of Barcelona’s Cadete B team, who is expected to be another player from the La Masia production line who will have a big future.
Alastuey recently picked up a bad injury that could sideline him for the rest of the season, so if City are successful in their pursuit, his next appearance may well be in a sky blue kit.
City have snapped up two of Barcelona’s best prospects in the last couple of years, defender Eric Garcia and midfielder Adrian Bernabe, both of whom have already made first team debuts under Guardiola.
