Real Madrid are interested in signing Portuguese wizard Bernardo Silva in the summer transfer window as a replacement for Luka Modric, the Mirror reports.
The 24-year-old has been a sensation at the Etihad Stadium since his arrival from Monaco and is a key member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, with the City boss viewing the gifted playmaker as David Silva’s heir apparent.
Despite that, it is claimed that Madrid have put Bernardo on their wish-list as they look to renovate their struggling squad in the next transfer window.
Signed for £43.5 million 18 months ago, Bernardo is now valued in excess of £70 million, with City almost certain to resist any offers.
Although he still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal, City are ready to look into offering Bernardo improved terms to ward off Real Madrid and any other interested clubs.
The hard-working Portugal international has scored 7 goals and registered 6 assists in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
