One of Manchester City’s all-time fan favourites could be set for an emotional Etihad Stadium return – though not as a player.
According to SunSport, City are lining up a position for Shaun Wright-Phillips that would make him the newest club ambassador.
Shauny is reported to be open to taking up a role which would see him become involved in the matchday experience among other events run by the club.
Wright-Phillips enjoyed two spells at City from 1999 to 2005 and 2008 to 2011 after he returned from Chelsea, where he had spent three seasons.
The 37-year-old, who won 36 caps for England, spent the final years of his career in the United States playing for the New York Red Bulls and Phoenix Rising before retiring in 2017.
