The Frenkie de Jong saga looks set to come to an end imminently, with Ajax hoping to announce who the 21-year-old midfield sensation will be joining in the summer by Saturday.
That is according to journalist Oriol Domènech who was speaking to Club de la Mitjanit on Tuesday night, and discussed De Jong’s future.
The Ajax player has been linked with City, PSG and Barcelona, with conflicting reports in recent weeks about him joining PSG or Barcelona, with little mention of City.
Are City out of the race? There has been no confirmation of that, but Domènech said even Ajax still don’t know who De Jong will be signing for, despite reports in recent days that PSG is his most likely destination.
“Ajax hope to announce his [De Jong’s] transfer before Saturday,” Domènech said to Club de la Mitjanit. “The club still don’t know who he will sign for.”

At this point in time, City appear to be the outsiders for De Jong’s signature, but Txiki Begiristain is known to do his work quietly, while Barcelona use the media a lot for their deals.
We may know one way or another by the end of the week where Frenkie de Jong, widely reported to have been Pep Guardiola’s top target to succeed Fernandinho, will be playing his club football next season.
