From Spain: Mikel Arteta ‘phones Isco’, Real Madrid want Man City star in return

Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta made a phone call to Isco last week to gauge his interest in a move to the Etihad Stadium, Eduardo Inda of @OKDIARIO has claimed on El Chiringuito TV.

In the latest of the countless stories linking the Real Madrid playmaker to City, Inda said Arteta contacted Isco asking if he’d be willing to join City. Isco has been warming the bench at the Bernabéu under Santiago Solari and unless his situation changes, he is likely to leave Madrid in the summer.

Taking the claim even further, Inda then said Real Madrid are going to try and include Isco in a deal for Kevin De Bruyne or Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, a player constantly linked with a move to the Spanish giants.

While City will not entertain the idea of selling De Bruyne, it is possible Isco could be a makeweight in any deal for Hazard, who continues to stall on a new Chelsea deal and is known to be tempted by Real Madrid.

As we’ve come to learn over the years, any Isco story should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it appears the 26-year-old may soon be on the market and that could certainly alert Pep Guardiola if he believes the Spain international could improve City’s squad. City’s position of late has been that they have no interest in Isco, but in Spain they beg to differ.
