Manchester City have commonly been mentioned as a likely destination for Barcelona wonderkid Ilaix Moriba, considered one of La Masia’s most exciting talents.
The midfielder, who has been compared to Yaya Touré in style, is 16 in a week’s time and having still not agreed professional terms with Barcelona could soon join another European club for free.
While City have been hoping to add him to their burgeoning ranks of elite prospects at the City Football Academy, they are reportedly now facing serious competition from Italian giants Juventus.
According to the famous Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are following Ilaix with great interest and hope to lure him to Turin, but will have to overcome Manchester City and potentially other clubs in a battle for one of the best 2003-born players available.
Football experts believe Ilaix, a versatile midfielder, is ‘perfect’ for English football. The youngster is said to have a great shot on him but is talented at many facets of the game.
At Barcelona they say that they have not seen anyone with his potential in a long time, and now the question is where will he end up – or could Barça yet convince him to stay?
