Manchester City are set to bring forward the arrival of highly-rated Irish goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu from Shamrock Rovers – on one condition.
The 16-year-old was confirmed to be joining City in October, but the plan was for him to remain at Shamrock Rovers until the summer of 2019 to allow him to complete his Leaving Certificate.
However, reports from Ireland today say City want Bazunu earlier and he should arrive in the coming weeks, provided arrangements can be made that allow him to complete his Leaving Certificate in Dublin.
City want to place the Ireland youth international into their developmental system and build on his enormous potential, which saw him keep four clean sheets in a row last year for Shamrock Rovers and feature against AIK Stockholm in the Europa League qualifiers.
The Premier League champions are paying around €500,000 (£450,000) for Bazunu and will hope he continues the fine tradition of producing quality goalkeepers at the club.
