Manchester City are €800,000 (£720,000) better off this evening after former youth player Denis Suarez made his 70th appearance for Barcelona in their Copa del Rey tie against Levante.
25-year-old Suarez is reportedly in talks to join Arsenal and was on 69 appearances for Barcelona having been an unused substitute against Getafe in their previous game.
The midfielder appeared as a 67th minute substitute tonight for Barcelona though, replacing Malcom, and triggering another bonus payment to City.
Every 10 appearances (maximum 100 appearances) made by Suarez mean Barcelona must pay a further €800,000 to the Premier League champions. His 70th appearance took the bonuses from that total to €5.6 million, likely to be the final payment of this type if the Spaniard is on his way to the Emirates.
City have become very shrewd in their sales of young players in recent years, including add-ons, buy-back, and sell-on clauses. The latest sale, Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid, included numerous a host of future add-ons and a 15 per cent sell-on clause which would jump to 40 per cent if Manchester United were to sign him.
