Tiago Dantas had one foot in Manchester City after visiting the club’s facilities over Christmas, but the Benfica starlet has reportedly had a change of heart.
The 18-year-old creative midfielder, considered to be one of Portugal’s best prospects, was in Manchester over the festive period and even posted about it on his Instagram, with a move to City appearing close.
However, according to today’s edition of Record, talks with Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira, Tiago has been successfully persuaded to remain at the Estádio da Luz and will sign a new deal shortly.
City had planned to finalise terms with the Portugal under-19 international this month before signing him as a free agent when his Benfica deal was to expire in June.
Now though, the teenage prospect has decided to continue his development in Lisbon and unless of a change in plans, he will not be heading to the Etihad Stadium.
