Souleyman ‘Samy’ Sané, the father of Manchester City flyer Leroy Sané and a former footballer himself, is proud of his son’s rapid development in England.
Samy was in attendance as his son scored the winning goal for City against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night and was asked by German newspaper BILD about Leroy’s progress at City.
“I’m proud of my son and his development, which he has taken in England,” Sané Sr. beamed. “But Leroy plays in a top team and has a great coach, so he can still learn every day.
“For a young player in another country he’s doing really well.”
And how does Leroy compared to his dad, a former Senegal international striker?
Samy laughed as he said: “It’s nice that he’s already better than his papa!
“I don’t watch all of his matches live [in person], but the important ones I do.
“Leroy and his brothers, who are also really good at football, know they can always count on their family.”
