After two years in the United States with sister club New York City FC, Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera could continue his career on loan in Spain, it is reported.
The 20-year-old Venezuelan international impressed in his spell at NYCFC and recently returned to Manchester, since when he has been training with the first team.
Despite a lack of cover for veteran Fernandinho, who Herrera plays a similar role on the pitch to, it appears unlikely that Pep Guardiola will call on him to play in the second half of the season.
And according to ESPN FC a number of clubs from Spain are showing interest in taking Herrera on loan for the second half of the season.
No clubs are named and while another partner side, Girona FC, springs to mind, they already have two central midfielders – Douglas Luiz and Aleix Garcia – on loan from the Etihad and might be overstocked in that department.
Herrera was acquired from Atlético Venezuela in the January 2017 transfer window and his performances have won good reviews, leading to French club Lyon trying to sign him from City, only to be knocked back.
