Crystal Palace will be without four of their first team stars for tomorrow’s trip to Manchester City, Roy Hodgson revealed at his pre-match press conference today.
Former Liverpool defender Martin Kelly is out after feeling an injury to his abductor muscle in Palace’s 1-0 win over Leicester last weekend, and the Eagles will also be without first-choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, much to Hodgson’s disappointment.
Hodgson said: “We thought he [Hennessey] would have recovered but he hasn’t so his back spasm hasn’t totally passed over although it’s a lot better but he tried to train yesterday and it went OK, but he needs a couple more days and he should be in training for Monday”.
£9.5 million summer signing from West Ham, Cheikhou Kouyaté, faces a late fitness test after being forced off last weekend, and despite training Hodgson will weigh up whether to risk him against the Premier League champions.
“We don’t think it is a serious injury, he trained today and we will have a look at it again so he could be available but the question will be whether we take that risk with all the games coming up.”
The final player out for Palace will be striker Christian Benteke, who has been limited to just four appearances this season through injury.
