Mancunian referee Anthony Taylor will be in charge of a match that could define this season’s title race in early January when Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
Appointments for City’s next four Premier League games have been announced, with Taylor’s appointment for the Liverpool clash the big one.
Before then, City take on Crystal Palace this weekend with Andre Marriner in charge:
Man City v Crystal Palace
Referee: Andre Marriner
Assistants: Scott Ledger, Harry Lennard
Fourth official: Anthony Taylor
On Boxing Day, City travel to Leicester, just as they are tomorrow, but this time for a league game, and it’ll be the experienced Mike Dean with the whistle.
Leicester City v Man City
Referee: Mike Dean
Assistants: Darren Cann, Dan Robathan
Fourth official: Andy Madley
City’s last fixture of 2018 is a trip to Southampton and this time Paul Tierney will be the man in charge.

Assistants: Constantine Hatzidakis, Scott Ledger
Fourth official: Lee Probert
How will the Premier League table look at the start of 2019? That remains to be seen but most signs point to City and Liverpool still being neck and neck in the title race – a big appointment therefore for Anthony Taylor.
