Manchester City have a fine recent record with referee Craig Pawson and will hope to add to that this Saturday lunchtime when they host Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
The 39-year-old Yorkshireman has today been appointed referee for City vs. Everton and under his watch City were unbeaten last season, with this being his first appointment of a Blues game in the 2018-19 campaign.
Last season, Pawson oversaw Premier League wins over Stoke, Huddersfield, Tottenham and Swansea, plus he had the whistle when Pep Guardiola’s side eased past Arsenal in February’s Carabao Cup final.
Everton fans may be less pleased to see Pawson as they are winless under him this season and last. This season, he sent off Phil Jagielka in the Toffees’ 2-2 draw at Wolves, while last season they suffered heavy defeats to Tottenham and Arsenal under Pawson. On the plus side, they picked up a good draw with Liverpool at Anfield when Pawson was in charge.
