Galatasaray chairman Mustafa Cengiz will fly to England in the coming days and sit down with Manchester City officials to discuss a possible January deal for Eliaquim Mangala, Aksam reports.
Mangala has been fit again for some time after recovering from a serious knee injured sustained on loan at Everton, but there is little chance of him getting game time with Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany above him in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.
Italian side Inter are reported to have an interest in the 27-year-old, but Istanbul giants Galatasaray are also eager to investigate a deal for the Frenchman.
Cengiz is due in England to explore several potential transfers to strengthen Fatih Terim’s squad, with Galatasaray down in fourth place in Turkey’s Süper Lig.
Mangala is out of contract in June and will be available on a free transfer, so a January sale or even a loan with a club taking on his wages could be beneficial to City, since they have no apparent plans to use the £42 million signing.
