Manchester City vs. Barcelona would undoubtedly be one of the most entertaining Champions League finals of recent times, pitting two of Europe’s most attractive footballing sides against each other.
There is a long way to go in the Champions League with the group stage not even yet concluded, but one Barcelona star admits the two teams would make up a great finale to Europe’s biggest cup competition.
Nelson Semedo, the Barcelona right-back, praised Pep Guardiola’s side and while admitting a final against the Premier League champions would be ‘complicated’, he would love to see it – and play in it.
“They are doing very well this season and seem the strongest rival right now,” Semedo told ESPN.
“They would probably be the most complicated team, but they should think the same because Barça have a lot of quality and confidence.
“It would be a great match — a great final or an anticipated final.”
Barcelona have dominated Man City in the recent head-to-head record, winning 5 and losing 1 – but that one defeat was the most recent meeting between the two teams, a 3-1 win for City at the Etihad in November 2016.
And with Pep Guardiola now fully settled and with his style integrated at the Etihad Stadium, a new match against Barcelona in the Champions League final would be a thrilling and close game.
