Manchester City to play Rotherham United in FA Cup third round

Manchester City have drawn Championship side Rotherham United in the FA Cup third round and will play them in a home tie at the Etihad Stadium.

Paul Warne’s Rotherham are currently close to the Championship danger zone in 20th place and face the intimidating task of trying to knock out the Premier League champions.

City were among the first and second tier sides to join FA Cup second round winners in tonight’s draw, which was broadcasted on BBC One at 7.30pm.

The Blues have not won the historic cup since 2011, when they ended their trophy drought with a famous win over Stoke at Wembley, with Yaya Touré scoring a winning goal that Blues will never forget.

The FA Cup third round is scheduled to take place over the weekend of Saturday 5 January 2019.
