Manchester City are now very familiar with Lyon’s best talents after struggling against the Ligue 1 side over two Champions League games.
Lyon got the better of City on the head-to-head rule which will determine first place should the sides finish level on points – which would require City to lose to Hoffenheim and Lyon to beat Shakhtar Donetsk.
Two of OL’s standout performers against City were midfielders Tanguy Ndombele and the lesser talked about Houssem Aouar, who enchanted Guardiola in the second fixture between the teams.
From France comes further evidence that City are keen on both Lyon players as they look to strengthen the midfield, particularly with Fernandinho turning 34 in May.
Téléfoot, who were the only broadcaster to suggest City wanted Bernardo Silva before that sudden deal in 2017, has a list of clubs interested in the gifted Lyon duo.
If City still want Ndombele, they face competition from neighbours Manchester United (imagine our shock), Juventus and, now, Real Madrid. There are also reports in Spain of Barcelona being in for the 21-year-old France international.
Aouar, 20, has been lesser coveted, but his performance against City will undoubtedly turn more eyes towards his talents. For now, Téléfoot lists Liverpool as City’s rivals for the player.
