Manchester City and Tottenham intend to ‘take action’ in January and try to sign promising young forward Adil Taoui from Toulouse, Foot Mercato reports.
The Blues have been scouting 17-year-old Taoui since at least 2017 but with rival interest from Tottenham, an approach is expected to be made in January to prise the French youth international.
And City could have an advantage having formed a collaboration with Toulouse that led to rumours of the Ligue 1 side joining the City Football Group, but did see young prospect Manu Garcia join TFC on loan for the season.
Taoui is under contract at the Stadium de Toulouse until June 2021 and it is thought that a €5 million (£4.4 million) bid from City or Tottenham could be enough to secure the teenager.
Toulouse’s academy has a good track record, with Issa Diop, who is impressing at West Ham, and Fiorentina goalkeeper Alban Lafont two recent examples of their youth system delivering fine talent.
