Due to injuries and Kyle Walker’s consistency, we haven’t seen as much of Danilo in his natural right-back role as expected since his arrival from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017.
The 27-year-old has yet to play a minute of Premier League football this season and didn’t even make the bench for today’s game against West Ham, despite starting both of Brazil’s matches during the international break.
But one of the best right-backs ever, the legendary Cafu, rates Danilo not only as better than Kyle Walker, but as one of the three best right-backs in the world!
“At the moment, Daniel Alves, Dani Carvajal and Danilo are in my opinion the best right-back players,” Danilo was quoted as saying by the Mirror.
“Among them, Daniel Alves is probably the one with the style of play most similar to mine.”
Danilo’s versatility has seen him play at left-back and even in central midfield, but should we be seeing more of him in his preferred role? According to Cafu, City have one of the best right-backs in the world rarely playing in that position, so perhaps we should.
