Riyad Mahrez found the net twice in the opening half hour of Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo on Sunday, giving his country the lead then a 3-0 advantage over the hosts.
The first goal was lovely 25-yard chip over the wandering goalkeeper, and despite a Togo defender’s best efforts to keep the ball out with his hand, Mahrez’s shot found the net.
After Youcef Atal added a second for Algeria, Mahrez made it three latching on to a long pass and smashing the ball beyond the Togo goalkeeper, who will be having nightmares about the Manchester City winger tonight.
The 27-year-old has been in good form for City after an adaptation period with 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 6 appearances for the Premier League champions.
