Manchester City living legend David Silva was honoured prior to Spain’s match against Bosnia on Sunday night with a special ceremony just before kick-off.
El Mago retired from international duty earlier this year after a glittering career with his country, earning 125 caps, scoring 35 goals, and winning both the World Cup and European Championship.
Silva appeared on the pitch at his local Estadio de Gran Canaria with son Mateo, who overcame premature birth and illness during what was a difficult 2017-18 season on a personal level for the City star, and received a commemorative Spain shirt with the number 125 on – to signify his appearances.
Silva also did an honorary kick-off which former City teammate, Bosnia’s Edin Dzeko, watched with a smile.
Here are some images of Silva being honoured on a special night for the 32-year-old.
