Ian Carlo Poveda could be the next wonderkid off the increasingly fruitful Manchester City production line with the teenager already drawing interest from afar.
Poveda, who arrived from Brentford via Barcelona in 2016 is stylistically compared to Alexis Sanchez and is impressing at youth level with his performances.
And according to The Sun, the England youth international, who is predominantly a winger, is attracting interest from developmental hotbeds Germany and Holland.
Clubs based in those countries are reported to have ‘made contact’ with City about doing a deal, likely a loan spell with the player under contract until 2021.
City’s partner club NAC Breda, who have taken young Blues on loan in recent seasons, could be a candidate club for Poveda to experience the senior game for the first time.
Poveda’s friend Jadon Sancho, who quit the Etihad for Borussia Dortmund last year, and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson, who is on loan at 1899 Hoffenheim, have been revelations in Germany’s Bundesliga and more English youngsters could follow.
18-year-old Poveda is another member of a very talented crop of youngsters that could play a big role in the future of English football, and City will hope he can follow in Phil Foden’s footsteps by approaching the first team in the years to come.
