Phil Foden is on the verge of signing a new long-term deal with Manchester City and committing his future to the Blues, James Ducker of the Telegraph reports.
There have been reports in recent weeks that the likes of Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain would like to lure the 18-year-old away from the Etihad Stadium, but there will be no repeat of Jadon Sancho with an announcement expected soon that Foden has put pen to paper on a new deal.
Negotiations between City and Foden’s representatives have been described as ‘swift’ with an appetite from all parties for Foden to continue his development under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.
The Daily Mail is more specific on the length of Foden’s new deal, saying he’ll sign a SIX-year contract, while adding that no progress has been made on renewing Brahim Diaz’s deal.
In more good news for City fans, winger Leroy Sané is expected to be the next in a long line of players to sign new contracts, with the German expect to commit his long-term future to the club shortly.
Ilkay Gundogan and Fabian Delph could also be given new contracts soon with City keen to keep together a special group of players that comprise one of the Premier League’s best ever teams.
