Accompanying news that Benjamin Mendy is out of France’s upcoming games with a a sprained left knee and meniscal lesion, comes information that another Manchester City defender has had to withdraw from his national team commitments.
Otamendi, who has been suffering what Pep Guardiola described as a ‘small injury’, has been announced as a withdrawal by Argentina.

The centre-back has not featured for City since the 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in October and his injury is described as affecting his right Achilles tendon.
Otamendi, 30, was not even on the bench for yesterday’s Manchester derby and he will spend the international break recovering ahead of a hectic festive period.
