Manchester City should be considered favourites for the Champions League — because of Pep Guardiola — according to France and Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann.
The 27-year-old was a World Cup winner with France in the summer and has occasionally been linked with a move to Man City in recent years, as well as neighbours United.
And in what some might see as a come-and-get-me-plea and others just a simple compliment, Griezmann has named City are his personal favourites to win the Champions League.
In an interview with German newspaper Kicker, Griezmann said: “For me, Manchester City are the leading favourite because they have Guardiola as the coach.
“Then comes Juventus and Barcelona because they have Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“And then I see us [Atletico Madrid].”
It’s clear that Griezmann rates Pep Guardiola highly as a coach — could he some day work under the Catalan at the Etihad Stadium?
