Sterling and his agent Aidy Ward have been involved in a long-running struggle to agree new terms for the England winger to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium, but he is now set to commit his future to the club.
A number of clubs, most prominently Real Madrid, have been monitoring Sterling’s contract situation, with his existing deal running until June 2020. The new contract will keep Raheem at City until his late 20s once he officially puts pen to paper.
Sterling was outstanding last season and with a newfound maturity has again impressed this season, with 4 goals and 3 assists in 8 Premier League appearances. He will become the latest star to sign a long-term deal at the club, with Txiki Begiristain successfully convincing key players to stay at the Premier League champions.
