Lee Mason will take charge of his second Manchester City game of the season on Sunday when Pep Guardiola’s league leaders host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.
City are top of the league following their win over Tottenham at Wembley last night and will be hoping to keep it that way when Mark Hughes’ side visit at the weekend.
And Bolton native Mason has been tasked with overseeing the 11th Premier League game of City’s season, his second appointment after being in charge of the 2-0 win over Brighton in September.
Mason was the referee for just two City games last season, a 3-1 win over Watford on January 2 in the league, and the extremely physical 2-0 win over Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
It will also be the 47-year-old’s second Southampton match of the season after he had the whistle for their 2-1 defeat to Everton in the second week of the season.
Match appointments for Manchester City vs. Southampton (4/11/2018)
