Manchester City may soon have a completely full strength outfield squad after midfielder Ilkay Gundogan returned to training on Tuesday.
The Germany international, who celebrated his 28th birthday last week, has been out of action since hobbling off against Hoffenheim at the beginning of the month.
However, Ilkay confirmed on his social media channels that he is back in training and will be available for selection soon, with Thursday night’s Carabao Cup game against Fulham perhaps coming a little too early.

With Philippe Sandler and Eliaquim Mangala back from serious injuries, and Danilo also confirming his return to training, it means City have every outfield name on the training pitch, with only long-term absentee Claudio Bravo sidelined. And heading into the hectic festive period, squad depth could prove to be essential if Pep Guardiola’s men are to compete on all fronts.
