Douglas Luiz was denied the chance to play Premier League football with parent club Manchester City this season after being denied a work permit by the Home Office.
The snub led to City rushing to find the Brazilian midfielder a new club but there was no shortage of interest, with Benfica, PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbahce credited with an interest.
In the end, Douglas decided to return for a second season on loan at Girona, which is going better than his first spell there.
He was asked by Diario de Girona about interest in him during the summer transfer window and confirmed there had been a lot of interest, but felt a return to Spain would suit him best.
“Actually, yes, there were many clubs interested. I had to see with my agents what was best for me and we decided Girona was the best opportunity.
“The Spanish league is good and I feel here I can continue to learn. Also, the coach talks a lot with Guardiola.”
