Following Sergio Aguero being revealed as the first of 30 men on the shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or, Kevin De Bruyne has also been revealed as a nominee for the prestigious award.
The Belgian playmaker was revealed in the second set of players, along with compatriot Thibaut Courtois, Roberto Firmino, Diego Godin and second favourite (behind Luka Modric) for the prize, Cristiano Ronaldo.
De Bruyne was the best midfielder in the Premier League last season and arguably the best player in the all-conquering Manchester City side that won a domestic double, shattering records before lifting the Premier League trophy.
Neither De Bruyne or Aguero are expected to be in the final running for the award, but perhaps KDB will be a step closer than he has been before following an excellent 2017-18 season.
And it goes on! 5 new nominees for the 2018 Ballon d'Or France Football!
