Phil Foden has been named in the newest England under-21 squad, meaning he is just one stage away from making the England senior set-up.
Foden is one of three new faces in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad to face Andorra and Scotland in Euro qualifiers with the Young Lions needing just one point to secure their place at next summer’s Finals in Italy and San Marino.
For Foden, it is one step closer to making Gareth Southgate’s squad, which could potentially lead to him going to the next World Cup.
Sancho’s former Manchester City teammate Jadon Sancho has already won his first senior call-up having been named in the England squad yesterday. For Foden, the wait goes on, but he is getting there step by step.
Foden is the only City player in the England under-21 squad, with goalkeeper Angus Gunn having left for Southampton in the summer.
