Manchester City want to sign Hoffenheim under-19 midfielder Ilay Elmkies, who came off the bench and scored against City’s youngsters in the UEFA Youth League today.
Elmkies was part of the Hoffenheim squad that beat City’s under-19s 5-2 today, handing the young Blues their second heavy defeat of the competition after they fell 4-1 to Lyon in the opening matchweek.
And according to both SPORT BILD in Germany and the Israeli media, Pep Guardiola wants to sign the teenage midfielder, who is described as ‘technically good and strong in battle’. He would almost certainly enter City’s under-23 side or potentially go out on loan to a club such as NAC Breda if signed.
The 18-year-old, who is 5’6″ tall, played for Beitar Nahariya and Maccabi Haifa in his homeland of Israel before joining Hoffenheim, and is an Israeli under-19 international.
